Derby fans’ grounds for concern
IT’S getting on for 15 years since Wimbledon were controversially uprooted and moved up the M1 to Milton Keynes – but no-one seems to have bothered telling two dippy Derby County fans!
The Rams were looking to climb the Championship table last weekend in the early kick-off, a game broadcast live on Sky Sports on Saturday.
Supporters of League Two AFC Wimbledon were setting off on their coach for their 3pm trip to Luton Town and thought they had earned some extra support, with fans of the opponents of the club they call Franchise FC often backing the Dons instead of travelling to stadium:mk.
But Wimbledon hadn’t found compassionate companions for their trip to Kenilworth Road – the County fans had turned up at the wrong ground… and they weren’t happy about it!
Instead of making the 80-mile trip to Milton Keynes, they had driven right past the turn off and travelled for an extra 60 miles to south west London instead.
The unnamed pair arrived Kingsmeadow at midday, too late to make it back through the roundabouts and concrete cows.
At least the game was on TV but they may have wished they had legged it back to MK to catch the final knockings after all.
Derby struck very late through Darren Bent and Tom Ince to secure a vital 3-1 win.
