The penny drops for cheeky keeper!

The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE TWO RESULTS - By Sheridan Robins

AS a manager you want loan players to be in for a penny, in for a pound when they come to your club.

Lawrence Vigouroux, on loan at League One Swindon from Premier League big guns Liverpool, certainly proved that to be the case when he paid a £50 fine for turning up late for training in one penny pieces.

The 21-year-old was sent back to Anfield with his loan spell seemingly cut short, but returned to the County Ground later in the week having apolo- gised to his team-mates for his antics. Boss Mark Cooper told how he saw the funny side to the incident, saying: “I thought it was brilliant banter but in the context it was the wrong way to go about it.

“We have given him a second chance and I am sure he will be grateful. He knows the way he behaved was wrong and he has been in the changing room and apologised to the players.”
