STOPPER McCAREY FINALLY IN HIS POMP
GOALKEEPER Aaron McCarey says he is finally finding his feet on loan at Portsmouth.
The 23-year-old Wolves stopper is used to being sent out on temporary deals with this his fourth different club in four years but had not played first-team football for more than a year before he made his debut in the 2-1 win at Bristol Rovers on September 26.
Since then McCarey has had a clear run in the side and, despite Brian Murphy’s impending return to fitness, he’s keen to kick on.
“I do feel myself getting sharper with each game and I’ve really enjoyed it,” said McCarey. “For the first couple of games, I was trying to get into the rhythm again but against Yeovil last week it was probably the best I have felt so far.”
McCarey joined on a onemonth emergency loan deal from Wolves in September, but he admits he would be willing to extend it.
“Nothing has been spoken about yet,” he added. “But if the club and manager want me to stay I would be more than happy to do so.”
