JAKE GETS A ROYALS APPROVAL
READING boss Steve Clarke believes Jake Cooper can become a more than suitable replacement for Michael Hector – once the defender moves to Chelsea.
The Blues made a surprise summer swoop for Hector, though immediately loaned him back to Reading in the summer.
But with his future set to be at Stamford Bridge, Clarke does not want to risk Cooper leaving and has agreed a new three-year deal with the 20-year-old centre-back.
“With the sale of Michael Hector to Chelsea, it was very important to secure Jake on a longer contract,” Clarke said. “I’m sure he will be a valued player for this club now and in the future.”
