DON ISN’T COWED BY TIME OFF

DON Cowie is desperate to feature for Wigan Athletic on a permanent basis, with the Scotland international seeing light at the end of the tunnel following a combination of calf and appendix injury problems.

The midfielder made his return in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash with Crewe a fortnight ago, having last featured for the Latics in May.

“It’s been up to me to get the minutes in where I can and I think I’ve done that,” said the 32-year-old.“It was great to get an hour against Crewe last week, and then being involved in the squad at Bury, even though I didn’t get on. Now I’ve had that taste I want more of it.”
