BOSS Jim Bentley admits Morecambe’s average attendance of 1,551 is a real cause for concern.

The Globe Arena has a capacity of 6,476, but just 1,098 turned up on Tuesday to see the Shrimps beat Crawley 3-1.

Bentley was shocked by the size of the crowds and is worried it could impact on the future of the club.

“I’m a bit disappointed with the attendance, this club needs its community behind it, without them it’s going to be hard to sustain a Football League club,” said the 39-year-old.

“But I can’t get someone in the road and put them in a headlock and drag them through the turnstiles.”
