STRIKER Michael Coulson wants to prove being saddled with the tag “injury prone” is unjustified.

The York City star has played more than 100 games since signing for the Minstermen in 2012 and also racked up more than a century of matches in a three-year spell at Grimsby.

He has suffered cruciate ligament damage three times in his career, but took just five months to return after he was last stricken by the injury three years ago.

The 27-year-old, who missed the first two months of the season following groin surgery, said: “A lot of people say to me ‘you’re always injured’ and that frustrates me a little bit.

“I think, at one point, I played 50 or 60 games on the trot and I played more than 100 times in three years at Grimsby so, considering I’m ‘always injured’, I’ve not done too badly.

“To come back from injury, it takes a long time to feel right and you have to push your body, which is maybe why I’ve had some of my past injuries.

“But that’s the type of person I am – I want to play as many games as I can.”
