The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE ONE -

EVER wanted to take on a professional football player at a cracker-eating challenge? Well one lucky Cambridge United fan will get to do just that against U’s midfielder Liam Hughes in the Mick George Challenge a Pro competition.

The League Two club’s kit sponsors have invited supporters over the age of 16 to enter the competition to face the 23-year-old in ten different tasks, including: table tennis, question of sport and a cracker challenge.

The Challenge a Pro competition will be filmed over the next couple of months, with United fans given the opportunity to win some exclusive prizes by guessing the outcome of each task between the fan and player.

Jon Stump, Mick George Ltd finance director, said: “It’s not every day that you get the chance to compete with a professional footballer but the Challenge a Pro competition provides an opportunity for one lucky U’s fan to test themselves against their heroes.

“The talk around the dressing room is that Liam is not taking any chances with this and is putting the extra hours in to make sure he is ready for the competition.”
