POMPEY LACKING A CUTTING EDGE
PORTSMOUTH have been a side knocking on the door of top spot for several weeks and against the team who started the day fourth in League Two, they showed what a class act they are without finding a way past Brian Jensen.
While Mansfield struggled to keep hold of the ball, Pompey targeted attacks down the wing and with skipper Michael Doyle showing a lovely passing touch, the hosts carved the Stags open on several occasions in the first half without taking advantage.
Ben Davies was a creative spark for the hosts and his runs and crosses from the right looked to be the most likely area where a goal would come. However, they could not finish the job off and will have to rectify that if they want to get promoted.
