JIMMY’S A STEP AHEAD – SHANE

- By Paddy von Behr

BURTON Albion defender Shane Cansdell-Sherriff believes boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s meticulous preparation is the secret to his success.

The former Leeds United striker guided Burton to the League Two title last term and with a third of the season gone they find themselves among the front-runners for promotion again.

Being able to look down on the likes of Coventry City, Sheffield United and Bradford City is quite an achievement for the Brewers.

But Cansdell-Sherriff says with Hasselbaink, 43, at the helm that should come as no surprise.

“With his background, you’ve got that respect straightaway,” said the 32year-old. “When he talks, he talks from great experience.

“But his attention to detail is the biggest thing. He doesn’t miss anything and he covers every angle.

“He’s detailed, he’s structured and he’s the manager you want to come and work for. He covers every base.

“You get certain managers who are strong and weak in certain points but he covers every base and area, which is what you want as a player.

“We’re a well-organised side and the gaffer makes sure of that, in the way that he trains and the way he prepares us.”
