SHEARER TO SHOW THE WAY
FORMER England captain Alan Shearer is to have a road named after him near Blackburn Rovers’ Ewood Park home.
Shearer scored 130 goals in 171 games for Blackburn and was part of their Premier League winning side in 1995.
Blackburn, together with Darwen Council, said they wanted to recognise the “key role” he played in that title win 20 years ago and are set to name the road Alan Shearer Way.
Shearer said: “My time playing for Rovers, and also being part of the team that won the title, was an incredibly happy period of my life.
“I will always look back fondly on the time and the people that made it special.”
