The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP - By Joshua Richards

MARK Robins is urging his troops to keep up the performances after the Scunthorpe boss was named the Sky Bet League One manager of the month for October.

It was a month to remember for fans of the Iron, as five wins from six games saw them climb out of the relegation zone and up to tenth.

Their only defeat came at high-flying Gillingham, while Robins’ side managed to find the net in every game in October, including 4-2 and 3-0 victories on the road at Oldham and Chesterfield respectively.

Scunthorpe are now just four points off a play-off place and Robins said: “It’s pleasing to have won the award. It is testament to the players’ performances and the support of the chairman, directors and staff. The fans have been excellent too.

“We picked up a couple of decent results at the start of the month and have just carried on in the same vein.

“We’re in a reasonable position now, where we can focus and really kick on. We have to carry on moving forward together.”
