SHAKERS ROSE TO THE OCCASION
BURY certainly showed they are over their minor blip of form with an emphatic win over the 2013 FA Cup winners.
As manager David Flitcroft said, it was a team performance and the Shakers rose to the task to dispatch of a team that hadn’t lost in nearly two months.
Bury were on top form as they dismantled Wigan with liquid football throughout the 90 minutes. A special mention for their second goal, a magnificent counter attack led by Jacob Mellis after winning the ball in his own half.
On a side note, you have to feel sorry for Wigan goalkeeper Richard O’Donnell as it be a game he will want to forget in a hurry. He didn’t cover himself in glory as he fumbled Tom Pope’s header into his own goal.
