GALE HAS SYMPATHY FOR GARY

The Football League Paper - - NEWS -

FORMER Blackburn Rovers defender Tony Gale believes the decision to sack boss Gary Bowyer was harsh.

The 44-year-old, together with four members of his backroom staff, left Ewood Park on Tuesday with Blackburn 16th in the Championship table, 48 hours after Kit Symons was dismissed by Fulham.

Rovers have been under a transfer embargo for failing to comply with Financial Fair Play rules and Gale, who won the Premier League with the club in 1995, felt Bowyer deserved more time.

“I was sad to see Gary go,” said Gale.“He could not sign players in the summer. There was a sense even among the fans that they did not want him. They want a bigger name. But Gary did a great job. He got them out of turmoil. I think the club were harsh in firing him.”
