TOILING TYKES GET TONEY LIFT
BARNSLEY haven’t exactly been free-scoring this term but head coach Lee Johnson is convinced that new loan signing Ivan Toney is about to change all that.
Toney signed from Newcastle United on an initial 28-day loan this week having joined the Magpies in August.
The striker scored 13 goals in 60 games for Northampton Town, where he began his career, and Johnson believes the 19-year-old can cause League One defenders headaches.
“Ivan is quick and he’s a goal-threat. He’s just what we need in the final third,” said Johnson, who has come under pressure in recent weeks.
“We’re all excited to have him in the dressing room because he can add that bit of quality in the final third.”
