JOE WILL IMPROVE WITH US – TONY
COVENTRY manager Tony Mowbray hopes to play his part in helping Joe Cole get back into top physical condition after the midfielder extended his loan deal at the Ricoh Arena this week.
The former England international signed a 35-day loan deal with Coventry from Aston Villa last month, but has now extended his stay until January.
Cole, 34, made his debut during a 2-2 draw with Rochdale in October, and opened his goalscoring account with a sumptuous free-kick in a 4-3 home victory against Barnsley.
“He’s had a chat with Villa, [technical director] Mark Venus has had a chat with Villa and the best option at the moment is to take it to January, try to get him to a physical condition where he can play matches for us and stop chasing games,” said Mowbray.
“He understands that he can’t just come and play and then break down because it doesn’t work for us financially at all, and it doesn’t work for Joe because he doesn’t want to sit around and not play.”
