DERRY’S DELIGHT AT LOAN ARRIVALS
CAMBRIDGE have signed Sheffield United defender Terry Kennedy and Gillingham forward Ben Williamson on loan until January 3.
Kennedy, 22, has made just one league appearance for the Blades this season and Williamson, 26, has failed to score in his nine for Gillingham after arriving from Port Vale in the summer.
“Terry has come from a very good football club, and I’m thankful to Nigel Adkins for making the loan achievable,” said boss Shaun Derry.
“He is a very commanding central defender which will put extra pressure on what we already have in that position.
“Like every player he will have to earn his place in the side, but the competition will certainly be fierce.
“The situation is similar with Ben, having come from another good club in Gillingham, who I am also very grateful for allowing us to complete the loan.
“In terms of Ben’s performances, I hope he can reproduce the form that we saw during his time with Port Vale. If he is able to strike up a similar relationship with the players we have here, then I’m sure he will do well for us.”
