HOTEL IS HOME TO O’S FOR A WEEK

The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP - By Pippa Field

LEYTON Orient players and coaching staff were made to stay in a hotel this week due to their poor run of form.

Club owner Francesco Becchetti made the decision following a 3-1 defeat at Hartlepool, which meant Orient had only won two of their past 12 games.

Boss Ian Hendon was only told of the plans on the coach back from Victoria Park.

The players were allowed to visit their families in their spare time but had to eat and sleep at the hotel in Waltham Abbey ahead of their game with York.

They travelled by coach together to and from their Chigwell training ground, which is a five-minute drive.

Hendon said: “The owner has had different sporting ventures over the years and he said sometimes it’s good to get together and spend time together.

“It helps team bonding. When the owner suggested it I thought why not try something different.

“It's not an army camp; there’s a gym and swimming pool at the hotel, so it hasn’t been a punishment.”
