GILLINGHAM boss Justin Edinburgh remains hopeful that he will have striker Luke Norris available for selection before the end of the year.

Norris has made excellent progress in his recovery from an ankle injury he sustained in October whilst in action against Crewe.

Medical staff originally ruled out Norris’ participation until the end of December but the 22-year-old is looking to pull his boots back on ahead of schedule.

Before he was struck by injury, the former Brentford man had started every league game for the Gills and was a pivotal part of the team, scoring three league goals.

And despite Edinburgh securing the services of Reading striker Dominic Samuel on loan, he is eager to have Norris back fit.

“He is progressing really well,” said the manager.

“Adam Roche has worked tirelessly with him and he looks promising.

“We were looking at 12 weeks but he is ahead of that and hopefully by mid-December he could be back.”

MISSED: Luke Norris
