AFTER just six months at the helm, Dean Saunders has been sacked by Chesterfield.
The Spireites slumped to a 4-0 defeat at home against Swindon Town yesterday, their fourth defeat on the spin, and are four points above the relegation zone.
Former manager Paul Cook, now in charge at Portsmouth, led them to the League One playoffs last term. An interim management team are set to take charge until a permanent appointment is made.
Chairman Dave Allen said: “We will not be rushed into making a decision on a new manager.”
Ex-Wolves boss Saunders, 51, is the second League One boss to lose his job in the last four days, following Tony Humes’ departure at Colchester.
