GRAY’S WAY IS TO DO IT AWAY

The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP - By Paul Ellison

DESPITE almost all of his goals coming at Turf Moor this season, Burnley striker Andre Gray doesn’t believe he has an away-day curse.

Ahead of Saturday’s clash with Ipswich, the 24-year-old had 15 goals to his name with only one coming on the road. His barren away spell mirrors Burnley’s own travel sickness with the Clarets winless from their last five away trips.

But the former Brentford and Luton striker isn’t concerned and instead says he aims to keep plugging away, wherever he plays.

“It’s a weird one,” he said. “I don’t think there’s anything to it. I’m still trying as hard and trying to score. We probably dominate more at home than we do away, and that might be part of it.

“People would be complaining if I was scoring away and not at home, so you can’t win.

“I’m not getting pressure off my team-mates. As a team we know we need to be better. That’s all that matters to me. I’ll just keep looking at the stats and that will keep me confident.”
