The Football League Paper - - FA CUP THIRD ROUND - By Joshua Richards

KAZENGA LuaLua has returned to help resurrect Brighton’s promotion push and manager Chris Hughton is hoping to see the winger back to his best immediately.

The 25-year-old’s last league appearance for the Seagulls arrived back in September, before groin damage forced him into a spell on the treatment table.

Brighton appeared to be coping just fine without him, until a 3-0 home defeat to Middlesbrough last month ended their unbeaten start to the Championship season.

Since then, they have also lost to Ipswich and Wolves and haven’t found the net in their last four league outings.

“It’s certainly good to have him back,” said Hughton, when asked about LuaLua.

“When you have got somebody who had participated in the amount of games he did early in the season and scored the goals that he did you are going to miss that type of talent.”

But that is not the only boost to Hughton’s attacking reserves, after he secured the signature of 24-year-old former Leicester City winger Anthony Knockaert from Standard Liege.

“He is a different type of player to the wide players we have here,” added the boss.

“It is about what he can bring us offensively in terms of goals and assists.”
