ROTHER­HAM are hop­ing the ar­rival of Tu­nisian in­ter­na­tional Ay­men Belaid will help tighten their de­fence as they fight for their Cham­pi­onship fu­ture.

The Paris-born cen­tre­back, 27, made his name in Bul­garia in spells with Loko­mo­tiv Plov­div and Levski Sofia, and has signed a twoand-a-half year deal.

Man­ager Neil Red­fearn said: “He has a good pedi­gree, af­ter play­ing for one or two clubs across Europe, and he also has fan­tas­tic ath­leti­cism which is some­thing that will help us.”

The Millers have also made two other trans­fer win­dow cap­tures. De­fender Shay Facey, 21, has joined on loan from Manch­ester City un­til the end of the sea­son and for­mer Leeds and Ch­ester­field goal­keeper Alex Cairns, 23, has also signed to the end of 2015-16.

Rother­ham are in­ter­ested in re-sign­ing for­mer striker Alex Revell, 32, cur­rently back with Cardiff City af­ter a loan spell at Wi­gan.

“Alex is some­body we have looked at and there’s been di­a­logue be­tween the clubs,” said Red­fearn. “He’s one of sev­eral tar­gets.”
