BROWN FUMES AT SHRIMPER COLLAPSE

AFURIOUS Phil Brown kept his Southend United side locked in the dressing room for two hours following the Shrimpers’ defeat at Swindon Town.
The defeat was Southend’s third in succession.
And Brown opted to make his feelings clear at the final whistle after the Shrimpers let slip an early two-goal lead.
“We took our foot off the gas and I’ve been asking why in there,” said the Southend boss.
“I got some answers and we will utilise them on the training ground.
“We’ve got decent lads in there and they’re telling me they’re hurting but they’re not hurting as much as me.
“We weren’t at the races in the second half, it’s poor defending and Swindon were the better team.
“Keeping the players in like that is a high risk strategy and you run the risk of falling out with people but that’s life.”
Despite the defeat, Southend are still eighth in League One.
And Brown is keen to see a response against Peterborough United next weekend.
“It’s a true test of character for us to respond now,” he added.
“The bottom line is we never looked comfortable in the second half and I’m disappointed for the fans.
