BANNAN SETS EYES ON PREM
BARRY Bannan insists he does not need to leave Sheffield Wednesday to return to the Premier League after tying up his long-term future with the Owls.
The 26-year-old midfielder started his career in the top tier with Aston Villa but has since dropped down to the Championship.
However his career has received a kick-start at Sheffield Wednesday. And after signing a fresh threeand-a-half year contract with the Owls last week, Bannan is convinced he can help end the club’s 16-year Premier League exile.
“There are good things happening here,” said Bannan.“I have now found a club that suits my style of play, and a club that loves me.That’s shown in my performances on the pitch.
“I have had the years in the Premier League and can say ‘yes, I am a Premier League footballer’.
“But I wasn’t ready, because I wasn’t playing week-in, week-out, which I am now. I want to get back to the Premier League, but I want to get there with Wednesday.”
