MILLERS LOOKING TO SEE BURKE TRICKERY
ROTHERHAM UNITED have boosted their attacking prospects by signing Chris Burke on loan from Championship rivals Nottingham Forest.
The experienced winger will stay at the New York Stadium until the end of the season, and Millers boss Neil Redfearn hopes his impact will help them beat the drop.
He said:“Chris is a very experienced player and knows the level. He has that turn of pace, the ability to go past people to create and score. He adds competition and real Championship quality that perhaps we have been lacking a little.”
The Millers have also secured the services of Luciano Becchio, whose wealth of experience in the second tier was no doubt crucial to his signing.
The former Leeds United striker had a short spell at Rotherham last year – in which he scored two goals in five games – and it was only an injury that halted his stay.
Becchio said, of the move: “I’m delighted to come back here and I hope to help the team move up the table.
“I started training with the team two weeks ago and I feel confident. I know the group and I know the manager, so I can’t wait to play the first game now.”
Following these signings, striker Jordan Bowery has left the club, having found his opportunities with the first team limited.
He recently spent a brief loan spell at Bradford City and is now free to find another club.
