TORAL COULD HAVE FUTURE AT ARSENAL

The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP -

GARY Rowett would be the first to admit that, for all their tenacity and counter-attacking prowess, Birmingham have not been sprinkled with an abundance of stardust. But that may be changing, courtesy of one established loanee in Jon Toral, and a new addition in Will Buckley.

Toral’s recent displays suggest he has every chance of fighting for a long-term future at parent club Arsenal, as he scored a spectacular volley against Ipswich to go with some excellent direct running.

Buckley, meanwhile, showed an array of tricks from the right wing to leave Ipswich left-back Jonas Knudsen’s head spinning, and most importantly, popped up in the box to tap home Birmingham’s first with all the opportunism of a seasoned goal poacher.

It may not have worked out for Buckley in the top flight so far with the Black Cats but he and Toral may just have the star quality to help Birmingham secure a spot in the play-offs come April.
