MID­FIELDER Joey Bar­ton be­lieves Burn­ley must start pick­ing up more points against their pro­mo­tion ri­vals or risk fail­ing to achieve their goal of a re­turn to the top flight.

The Clarets will face Derby County with cau­tion, hav­ing strug­gled in head-to-heads with those around them in the Cham­pi­onship ta­ble this term.

They have taken just two points from their con­tests with Mid­dles­brough, Hull City, Derby and Brighton.

But, hav­ing won eight of their 13 matches at Turf Moor, Bar­ton hopes home ad­van­tage can help them de­liver.

“We’ve played all the top teams away from home and, apart from Derby, we’ve lost,” said the 33-year-old.

“I look at that and think we are def­i­nitely a bet­ter home side, though we were re­ally good away last week.
