CONOR TURNS 21 IN STYLE TO

The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE TWO - By Nick Sellers

BIRTHDAY boy Conor Wilkinson celebrated turning 21 by rescuing a point for his new side Newport County as they staged a dramatic late comeback against Dagenham & Redbridge.

The striker, on loan from Bolton Wanderers, fired in the leveller in the 88th minute after fellow new signing John- Christophe Ayina had given the Welsh side hope with a debut goal of his own six minutes from time.

Dagenham were 2-0 up inside the first six minutes as Newport-born Christian Doidge opened the scoring after just 45 seconds and defender Joe Worrall headed home the second.

John Still’s men looked to be hanging on comfortably enough for what would have been a big three points at the wrong end of League Two before the late drama.

Newport manager Warren Feeney said his side should have won it at the death.
