TOFFEES STUCK ON £10m MARSHALL
EVERTON are tracking Cardiff’s £10m-rated goalkeeper David Marshall after MLS side Colorado Rapids targeted Goodison Park No1 Tim Howard.
The Rapids want to sign 36-year-old Howard this summer, and the Premier League club have been long-time admirers of former Norwich City and Celtic keeper Marshall.
They recently had him watched in Cardiff’s 3-1 win at Wolves, but the Welsh club are in a strong bargaining position as Marshall is under contract until the summer of 2018 having signed a four-and-a-half-year deal in February 2014.
Meanwhile, City defender Mark Hudson reckons the club have made a mistake in letting Joe Mason go.
Mason has joined Wolves for an undisclosed fee and Hudson, who played alongside the 24-year-old during his Cardiff days, cannot understand why the Welsh side let him go.
“It’s a strange one why they would need to sell to a rival club, especially another team looking to push into the play-offs,” he said.
“I think he’s a great player, his movement and the way he ghosts in and out of games.
“If he is playing week in, week out he is probably going to be one of the top scorers in the league.”
