The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP - By Paul Ellison

TONY Watt is eyeing up a long-term stay with Blackburn Rovers after revealing a future with Charlton Athletic was never in his plans.

It looked as though 22year-old striker Watt was all set to turn his loan at Cardiff City into a permanent deal last month, only for the Welsh side to be placed under a transfer embargo and scupper those plans.

Instead, Watt featured for Charlton against Blackburn, before being loaned to Rovers until the end of the season. He netted on his debut in a 3-0 FA Cup victory over Oxford United.

And, after playing three consecutive games for three different clubs, Watt is looking for some stability at Ewood Park.

“I was never staying at Charlton,” said Watt. “A lot of things happened behind the scenes that I can’t really speak about that kind of left me a bit disheartened and sad.

“It’s a beautiful club but just one of those things. I’m not there any more and don’t really want to talk about it.

“I’m happy I’ve moved on and we’ll see what happens come the summer. I’d love to be at Blackburn long-term, working for the gaffer.

“My last three games have been with different clubs, so I’m happy just to be settled.”
