RIGA DID NOT LIKE ME SAYS VAZ TE

The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP - By Paddy von Behr

RICARDO VAZ TE says he left Charlton Athletic because of Jose Riga.

The Portuguese forward joined the Addicks in November until the end of the season, but manager Riga arrived last month and Vaz Te was soon gone.

The former Bolton and West Ham man, who featured 12 times during his spell at the Valley, says it didn’t take long to realise he was no longer welcome.

“I left because Riga came in and he didn’t want me there,” said the 29-year-old, who has since joined Turkish Super Lig side Akhisar Belediyespor.

“That’s how I felt so I moved on. I may not agree with him, but I respect his decision and I wish the club the very best.

“I don’t know if he misunderstood me, but all I know is that, when the man walked through the door, he looked at me and I didn’t see anything good out of it.

“I didn’t see a person who wanted to know me, see me, or understand me. He just completely crossed me over.”
