The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE TWO RESULTS - By Joshua Richards

MORECAMBE chairman Peter McGuigan revealed this week that postponements and an early FA Cup exit have cost the club £250,000.

Between October 24 and January 16 the Shrimps failed to stage a home match on a Saturday with storms in the area wreaking havoc.

And though the club did play four midweek home games in that period, including an FA Cup first round replay defeat to Dagenham & Redbridge, that wasn’t sufficient to balance the books.

“The difference between a Saturday and a Tuesday is that you get around 50 per cent of what you get on a Saturday,” said McGuigan.

“A big blow was the FA Cup replay that we lost and that cost us around £100,000. Then we had two matches postponed due to the storms and lost hospitality money on the power cuts.

“When you sit down on January 1 that’s £250,000 we haven’t got. That’s a big, big number for a club of our size.”
