Clubs get behind the campaign for donors
A HOST of Football League clubs have joined the campaign to increase the number of organ donors.
The second Sign for Life campaign, which started yesterday and runs until March 13, urges fans to join the NHS Organ Donor Register and have a conversation about donation.
At Bolton, Wycombe and QPR yesterday, a team of people were on hand to answer questions fans may have had about organ donation and assist people who wanted to join the register.
Other clubs have donated space in their matchday programmes or stadium screens for an advert, as well as features on club websites and social media pages.
NHS Blood and Transplant’s Sally Johnson said: “We are thrilled to have the support of so many top teams for this campaign.”
Across the UK there are around 10,000 people, adults and children, who need a transplant. A shortage of organ donors means three people a day die in need of a transplant. For more information, visit www.organdonation.nhs.uk/ sign for life
