The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP - By Paul Eddison

WHILE Gary Hooper and Fernando Forestieri receive the plaudits at Sheffield Wednesday, no-one deserves more praise than Kieran Lee, according to Owls defender Tom Lees.

Midfielder Lee has been indispensable for Wednesday this year, having made more appearances than any of his teammates after missing just two games in the entire campaign.

The 27-year-old’s efforts are a key reason why the Owls are mounting a promotion charge as they look to return to the top flight for the first time in 16 years.

And Lees is in no doubt they need him fit and firing to sustain their momentum.

“Kieran is just one of those players who fits into our team really well,” said Lees.

“He does a lot of work that goes unnoticed. He covers a lot of distance and is very important to the way we play.

“Kieran has great awareness of what is around him and you can give him the ball in tight positions.

“Like a lot of players we have in the team, Kieran is really important and hopefully he can carry on playing the way he is doing.”
