The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP - By Paddy von Behr

JAMES HANSON has now passed 300 appearances for Bradford City and the towering striker has Dean Windass’ record in the crosshairs for his next milestone.

The 28-year-old began the weekend just two goals behind Bantams legend Windass in the all-time leading scorers’ list (84 against 86).

Overtaking Windass would see Hanson, who has spent his entire career at Valley Parade, climb to third in that list.

“I’ll probably overtake Deano sooner rather than later, but I don’t go into games thinking about it,” he said.

“I just want to add more goals to my game and try to get on the end of crosses or set-pieces.

“We haven’t spoken for a while, but when I do bump into Deano he gives me a lot of advice.

“He’s very competitive, but I’m sure he won’t mind me overtaking him.

“At the same time, it has probably taken me a few more years and he’ll definitely point that out.

“It was a proud moment for me getting to 300 appearances, but now it’s about kicking on and hopefully trying to make 400. I have to stay in the team on merit and keep plugging away.”
