THE re­la­tion­ship be­tween chair­man Massimo Cellino and Leeds fans took an­other ugly turn af­ter the Ital­ian’s two sons were caught fir­ing insults at sup­port­ers over so­cial me­dia.

Edoardo and Er­cole Cellino – both listed as di­rec­tors at El­land Road – have been in­volved in an­gry ex­changes over the last fort­night, fur­ther sour­ing the mood at the Cham­pi­onship out­fit.

Edoardo used of­fen­sive lan­guage to­wards the dis­abled in a pri­vate Face­book chat with one fan, while Er­cole took to In­sta­gram to call a fe­male sup­porter ‘a whale’.

“I would like to apol­o­gise for any of­fence that I have caused,” read a state­ment is­sued by Edoardo Cellino.

“Af­ter re­ceiv­ing a lot of abu­sive mes­sages my emo­tions got the bet­ter of me and I re­acted in a way that was un­pro­fes­sional.

“I be­lieve the mes­sages were pri­vate but I know I should not have done this.

“I did not fully un­der­stand the sever­ity of the words used as English is not my first lan­guage.

“Again, I can only apol­o­gise.”
