CAPTAIN Mark Byrne is adamant there is no hint of complacency at Newport County.

The Exiles suffered a 2-0 defeat at Crawley Town in midweek, just their second loss in eight League Two outings.

That left Warren Feeney’s side eight points clear of the bottom two and Byrne admits there is still some way to go before they can forget about the threat of relegation and start thinking about their summer holidays.

“The last couple of weeks we’ve put a great shift in and we know how good we are,” said the 27-year-old midfielder.

“But we know we’re nowhere near safe. We’ve got to keep going and keep digging away.

“We’re going to need the whole squad because we’ve got a lot of games coming up.”
