Off-beat stories from around the leagues

The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE TWO -

A ROCHALE fan from Down Under was left feeling down when he travelled more than 10,000 miles to see them and the match was called off – but now he’s on top of the world!

Alex Ollier flew to the UK from Australia in January to see Dale against Fleetwood Town, but the League One game was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

But now Football League sponsor Sky Bet are flying the Sunshine Coast native back to the UK next month to see Dale play Blackpool.

He’ll also be given VIP treatment by the club and a fully-signed Dale shirt donated by Sky Bet as a souvenir of the game.

“I was gutted to miss the game against Fleetwood,” said the 21-year- old.“It would have been only my second Dale game ever – the first was nearly a decade ago!

“When Sky Bet got in touch to say that they’d pay for my flights back to the UK I was over the moon. I can’t wait to make my dream become a reality.”
