NOT many people understood the significance of Kal Naismith’s goal celebration for Portsmouth at Stevenage last Saturday.

After netting his first goal for Pompey in the 2-0 win, the 24-year-old winger signalled skywards as part of his celebration. It was in memory of his late girlfriend, Ashley Dickson – the 22-year-old died in October 2014 following an epileptic seizure.

“That was for my late girlfriend, who passed away,” he told the Portsmouth News. “I had not scored for a long time since she passed and it was in memory of her.

‘It was a spur of a moment thing.”
