MICHAEL O’CONNOR believes Port Vale have undergone a minor miracle under Rob Page as the club targets a play-off place.
The Valiants’ wage budget is tight and chairman Norman Smurthwaite, who has been trying to sell the club, has warned it could be slashed by 40 per cent next season.
Midfielder O’Connor, 28, said:“I think the budget was cut a bit last year for Rob Page and Dean Glover, who helped bring in players.
“I think when Rob came in he said it would be two or three years before we were actually fighting in the top six. To do it in his first full year of management is credit to him.”
