SAWYER’S SWITCH IS NATURAL

The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP -

GARY SAWYER confirmed he has no qualms about playing in the centre of Plymouth’s defence.

The 30-year-old played at left-back all season until being moved into a central role during Argyle’s 2-2 draw with Oxford last weekend, to cover the injured Peter Hartley.

Sawyer said he felt more than comfortable with the switch of position.

“I like centre-half. If I had a couple more inches, I probably would’ve been one originally,” he said.

“I played there for Exeter and two or three games for Bristol Rovers there.

“It took a couple of minutes to get back into it, but I enjoyed it.”
