MENDES READY TO FLOURISH AT FOREST
NOTTINGHAM FOREST manager Dougie Freedman has praised the impact of winger Ryan Mendes following his return to the side.
The 26-year-old had been left out of the Forest starting XI in recent weeks but Freedman recognised his return to form and insists a spell on the sidelines was just what the doctor ordered.
The Cape Verde international played a key role in Nelson Oliveira's midweek strike against Preston and, with a little more composure, could have had at least one goal of his own.
Mendes had been absent with a groin problem and has had to be patient to work his way into the starting line-up.
“I spoke to Ryan and I am not going to justify the decisions I make. I make the decisions I feel are right for the club,” said Freedman.
“Ryan needed to come out of the side. He had taken a bit of a back seat recently.
“But he has got his strength back now and he can have a big push for us in the final ten or so games.
“He and Nelson showed real quality for us and, hopefully, that will continue in the coming weeks.”
