SHEFF’S QUALITY CAN AID FERGIE
GARY McSHEFFREY’S experience and quality will be crucial to Doncaster Rovers’ end-of-season run-in, according to boss Darren Ferguson.
The 33-year-old attacker joined the League One side on loan this week from Scunthorpe United until the end of the season as Rovers attempt to avoid relegation.
McSheffrey has experience of relegation scraps and arrives at the Keepmoat Stadium having played for Coventry, Birmingham, Chesterfield and Leeds over a 17-year career.
McSheffrey scored on his debut at Colchester United on Friday, but Rovers were thrashed 4-1.
Ferguson said: “He’s got a lot of experience and he knows the league very well. He has a good quality in the last third of the pitch.
“He has been on our radar for a bit, but it has been difficult because they wouldn’t let him go out on loan. Now, they’ve decided to.
“He has been in similar situations himself in terms of relegation fights, so he gives us vast experience and he can play in a number of positions.”
