BRAZILIAN BUYS THE SHRIMPS...
BRAZILIAN businessman Diego Lemos has purchased a controlling share in Morecambe, subject to consent from the Football League.
Peter McGuigan, chairman of the Shrimps – who went into this weekend’s round of League Two action top of the table – has sold his share to Lemos, a former football agent.
McGuigan has been chairman and majority shareholder at the club for 16 years and was a key player in the move from their old ground at Christie Park to their current home of the Globe Arena. It was revealed in March that McGuigan was putting the club up for sale.
“Having been chairman for 16 years, I feel the time is right for a new owner to take the club forward and build on a strong platform that exists,” McGuigan said at the time.
