MAC JOY AT JON’S NEW DEAL
DERBY County manager Steve McClaren is delighted that young goalkeeper Jonathan Mitchell has signed a new contract.
Mitchell, who turned 22 last week, is Scott Carson’s understudy and impressed despite Derby losing 3-0 to Liverpool in the EFL Cup back in September.
He also has two England Under-21 caps and on Thursday signd a new Rams contract that runs out in the summer of 2019.
“He’s still learning and gaining valuable experience, but he has a number of excellent qualities and we’re really happy to extend his stay,” said McClaren. “He will develop and get even better.”
