HUGHES: CUT GRANT PRICE OR WE’RE OFF
STOKE City boss Mark Hughes has warned Derby County he will scrap his bid to sign on-loan goalkeeper Lee Grant on a permanent basis if they don’t drop their asking price.
Derby are seeking around £4m while Stoke want to pay £1.5m for the 33-year-old who is out of contract at the end of the season.
Hughes said: “We would like to get it done, but we may come to a point where it’s not feasible.
“There’s a value on Lee and we appreciate that because he’s done absolutely fantastic for us, but we are not going to be held to ransom.
“There’s a market value on Lee and we know that.
“But we are a bit far apart and we may have to look elsewhere.
“He’s been absolutely fantastic since he's come here and his form has helped us at a time when we were conceding too readily and he’s settled everybody down.”
