CIARAN LOVES WINNING FEELING AT TOON

The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE ONE - By Sam Jackson

NEWCASTLE United central defender Ciaran Clark has admitted that pressure at the top is a lot better than pressure at the bottom.

Clark was battling relegation at Aston Villa last season but this tern is chasing promotion with Newcastle.

He said: “To get that feeling of winning again and getting more wins under your belt and be in a high position in the league is a different pressure.

“I feel like when we are playing well we can enjoy our football. We just want to keep going and keep the momentum.

“Every player wants to be in the best league in the world.

“The Premier League is one of them. To come to Newcastle is massive for me with quality players here and those we brought in.

“Looking at that you knew we were going to give it a right go. We have done well so far.

“We have shown it so far but we have to keep that going and taking each game as it comes.

“The fans are enjoying it. It’s an enjoyable place to be at the moment at the training ground but we can’t get complacent as we’ve achieved nothing yet.

Meanwhile, ex Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor is looking for a new club after leaving Portland Timbers following a four month stint with the MLS side.

Taylor, 30, will be free to sign for another club when the transfer window opens next month.

He said: "I’d like to thank everyone at Portland Timbers for an unforgettable few months on and off the field.

"I’ve never felt fitter. I didn’t miss a day’s training and I loved going to work every day.”
