PREMIER League ri­vals Sun­der­land and Burnley played out a goal­less draw at the Sta­dium of Light.

Sean Dy­che’s men nearly took the lead af­ter 15 min­utes through Sam Vokes, but Vito Man­none saved well af­ter the Welsh­men was played in by Scott Ar­field.

Sun­der­land’s best chance came through Jack Rod­well, who forced Nick Pope into a smart save ten min­utes into the sec­ond half when he fired goal­wards from the edge of the box.

James Tarkowski nearly won it for the Clarets 15 min­utes from time, but his pow­er­ful header from Steven De­four’s cor­ner can­noned off the post. Burnley pressed for a win­ner, but could not breach the Black Cats.
