CARLISLE EYES ARE STILL ON THE TITLE

The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP - By Ross Lawson

CARLISLE United are focused on looking up the table, according to midfielder Jamie Devitt, as they attempt to keep the pressure on Doncaster Rovers and Plymouth.

United suffered back-toback defeats at the start of 2017, having enjoyed an unbeaten first three months and just a single league defeat between August 6 and December 31.

While a number of draws have allowed their rivals to keep pace, the 26year-old winger is still targeting the title.

“We’re not looking at who is behind us. We’re looking at who is in front,” he said. “We don’t want to finish third, we want first.”

With a tough set of fixtures on the horizon, Devitt insists the mood is one of excitement as they look to regain their momentum.

“If anyone had said we’d have a four-point gap to the play-off places, we would have bitten their hand off,” he added.

“There is a real belief around the dressing room that we can see this through. Everybody is in a confident mood around the training ground.”

POSITIVE: Jamie Devitt
